The Storm Intensifies: Bishop Ben Breaks Silence on Evangelist Bernard Gatuthu’s Exit

Controversy surrounding the departure of Evangelist Bernard Gatuthu from the Jesus Compassion Ministry (JCM) has taken a dramatic and deeply personal turn. What began as whispers of a political disagreement has now evolved into a public confrontation, with Bishop Ben  (Benson Gathungu Kamau) stepping forward to address the allegations directly and providing startling evidence regarding the true state of affairs.

Bishop Ben’s Direct Challenge

The situation escalated when Bishop Ben Bishop ben post posted a public message addressed to Evangelist Gatuthu, urging him to stop misrepresenting the truth. In his post, the Bishop made serious claims, stating that the ministry had been financially supporting the evangelist with a monthly salary of 40k, along with additional benefits whenever the Bishop traveled for ministry outside of Nairobi.

Bishop Ben’s message suggested that the narrative being pushed by Gatuthu regarding his exit—which cited political discrimination—is a falsehood meant to tarnish the reputation of the church. The Bishop called upon the evangelist to "honour this altar" and cease spreading misinformation that paints the church and its leadership in a negative light.

Wife’s Secret Plea Revealed

Perhaps the most shocking development in this saga is the revelation of private communications between Bishop Ben and Jackie Gatuthu, the wife of the evangelist. In a leaked exchange  Jackie appears to reach out to the Bishop in a state of deep distress.

Leaked Chat Between Jackie Gatuthu & Bishop Ben

In her messages, Jackie expresses her struggle with her husband's behavior, noting that he had been absent from home for long periods and had failed to attend church services. She further claims that on one occasion, her husband returned home early in the morning, appearing to be intoxicated, and failed to attend the first church service.

Jackie’s messages to the Bishop highlight a desperate plea for help, as she notes that her husband had changed significantly since they moved to the "Bypass" area. She voices her concern about the "picture" he is portraying in clubs, questioning how that aligns with his role as a man of God.

In response to these pleas, Bishop Ben noted that he had attempted to summon the evangelist several times, but described him as "rebellious" and someone who had become "totally different" from the servant of God he once knew. The Bishop’s response underscores the internal struggle the church leadership had been facing long before the public fallout occurred.

 Closing the Door on Revenge

As the story continues to circulate, others associated with the ministry are making their stance clear. A notable comment from "Damaris Wa Dama Spares Original"

Damaris Muriithi comment on Bishop Ben post

Damaris stated that she refuses to be used for "personal revenge against the church" and clearly voiced her stance: "No more battles against the church". She urged those who have left the ministry to handle their own issues rather than attempting to recruit others into their conflicts, stating, "Mtu abebe msalaba wake vile nilibeba wangu" (Let everyone carry their own cross, as I carried mine). Her message serves as a reminder that the drama surrounding JCM is taking a toll on many, and there is a growing sentiment that it is time for the public fighting to end.

A Call for Truth

The core of the dispute now seems to center on accountability, personal conduct, and the integrity of the ministry. While Evangelist Gatuthu has maintained a specific public stance, the Bishop’s decision to air these private concerns suggests that the church leadership feels they have reached a breaking point.

As observers, the public is left with a complex situation. Is this a case of a servant of God being wronged, or is it a classic example of a fallout caused by personal indiscretions and a refusal to be held accountable? With the Bishop calling for honesty and family members providing evidence of internal turmoil, the truth seems to be slowly stripping away the layers of speculation that have clouded this story from the beginning.

One thing remains certain: the reputation of both the church and those who have served within it is at stake. As the digital conversation continues, many are looking for one thing—a clear, honest resolution that brings an end to the bitterness and allows all parties to move forward. For now, the "truth" that both sides claim to be seeking remains elusive, hidden behind screenshots, allegations, and the very public pain of a broken relationship.
